OK, your problem depends on the global input method and I can reproduce it.

I added the check about if preedit is visible:

I created the test rpms:

Could you try ibus-1.4.1-2.fc16.x86_64.rpm and
ibus-gtk2-1.4.1-2.fc16.x86_64.rpm if the problem is fixed?
