For cases where we really want to know if a speaker's talk was
selected or not before deciding on sponsorship, we have deferred
decision till the deadline for requesting sponsorship, so the question
of clarity does not arise IMO.  Also, the deadline for asking for
sponsorship is 30th April and the speaker list will (hopefully) be out
much before that.
