I went and read the release notes:

`` Fedora Core 4 users are advised not to use the Java RPM provided by Sun. It
contains Provides that conflict with names used in packages provided as
part of
Fedora Core 4. Because of this, Sun Java might disappear from an installed
system during package upgrade operations.''

But this shouldn't be the case unless something is different from
jpackage.org,
where this package is expected to be able to be parallel installed along with
other sdk's.

Just because two packages provide the same thing, the other should not
disappear. What exactly is the problem (is it specific to yum)?
