What is the status of KsCD in KDE 4.2 ?

It wasn't killed, it was rewritten. IMHO the quality of the rewrite leaves a
lot to be desired (for example they replaced FreeDB with MusicBrainz, but
they used the old deprecated MusicBrainz API instead of the latest one;
they also dropped analog playback; basically, features were secondary, all
the effort was on fancy skins), but the original code was unmaintained, so
it got merged anyway. :-/
