Hi Anne,

Mary Ellen Foster opened a bug report [1] in which she described a read-only 
problem in combination with sshfs. See the last comment by Caolan McNamara. In 
her first post she mentioned a discussion on the Openoffice.org forum about a 
NFS-issue.

May be it can shed a new light on your issue.
