Hi,

May be KPackagekit? ATM one can easily remove packages (history list and 
installed software list) but to get new packages is rather painful, especially 
when you don't know any names. Adding a Available Packages list? 

Btw. 
in the KpackageKit rc-file I see: 

[ViewGroup]
ShowApplicationVersions=false
ShowVersions=false

Are these options that can change the way packages are shown? Are they 
settable - in the future - from within Kpackagekit?
