K3b doesn't recognise CD -R disks

Fully updated F15 system here. Popped in an empty DVD-R disk and
"Device Notifier" indicated that it found it. Then fired up k3b. It
also showed the empty disk in the burner.
So, my question, does "Device Notifier" recognize the existence of the
disk on your system?
