KDE virtual desktop use being depreciated?

Well, I'm wondering if another compromise wouldn't be "better".  If the 
idea is to encourage the use of activities (and I must say that I've not 
yet given them an in-depth look-see) then how about this....

1.  Do not include the pager widget on panel by default.

2.  Keep the number of virtual desktops at 1 to start, but let the pager 
be visible with only one.
