Middle mouse button functionality

I tried deleting the entry for middle button and changing it to some other action.  No change.  The middle button still pastes to apps.

I might mention that I mostly use Quanta for development, but this happens in Konsole and other purely KDE 4 apps as well.

So far the only way to stop the middle button from pasting into apps is to run xinput set-button-map "Logitech USB Optical Mouse" 1 0 3.  Then if I unplug the mouse that setting get reset.

It is interesting that I also have a Logitech wireless that the middle button doesn't cause the clip board to be pasted into apps.  And button 2 is enabled.
