kde on sl6 - can't find it

In the hope of getting some help.

May I draw your attention - as I already have - to the parallel thread 
qt-4.8/kde-4.10 - which is _entirely_ concerned with  kde for rhel6 and 
in which Rex is the OP?

This is the combination that is currently giving me trouble.  It is 
closely related to Fedora and I have seen many threads on this list for 
which that is not remotely true.

Incidentally, I have tried renaming ~/.kde and  perhaps related folders; 
no apparent effect.
