KMail and akonadi

Sometimes I find that I get the message
"Retrieving Folder Contents  Please wait"
on KMail which continues indefinitely,
until I go to the akonadi console,
right-click on the server holding my Maildir
and turn it offline and then online again.
This seems to force KMail to sync the different folders
and stop the message.

Is this a bug?
Or is there anything else I could do?
