windows not preserved across sessions

The current default for the project is openbox, however from what I read
the openbox project has not announced any plans to migrate to wayland...
and there was a reddit thread that implied the openbox project was no
longer under active development (which may or may not be correct). I did
try openbox, it seemed to work fine, but I went with kwin and disabled the
desktop effects to speed it up. I am familiar with kwin, it's under active
development, and will support wayland.

With the new requirements of KDE Frameworks and qt5 I wouldn't be surprised
if LXQT changed their default to kwin in the future; especially if openbox
isn't going the wayland route - but again, that is pure conjecture.
Haven't read anything about that.
