Yeah, I think this whole topic is pretty much talked out anyway.  Regarding
bigger fish:
There are two issues that I'm still experiencing and here are the related
tickets:

Both are related to the Plasma freeze issue.

I've been doing "killall plasmashell ; plasmashell" daily since May and
it's getting
a little old.  Do you know of anything I could do to move this along.  I'm
about at
the stage of buying a new video card, but I shouldn't have to do that.
Many people
have reported this with various cards (Intel, Nvidia, AMD) and it just
seems to be
hanging out there with no resolution.
