Changing icon theme requires a power cycle??

FWIW, in-order to force Plasma 2 to reload the icons w/o logout/login
cycle do the following:
1. Open konsole/xterm.
2. Type:
$ kquitapp plasmashell
$ plasmashell &
3. Exit konsole/xterm.
