I restructured the order of commits a bit, so if anyone did a checkout
before noon eastern US time, you probably want to throw it away and
start over.

Its been added to the build, and is working its way through the build
system right now. Local build worked, but that was just one arch and
variant, so here's hoping it makes it through the gamut.

Still need to get more feedback from upstream LIRC to see how they want
to move forward with this (query submitted, awaiting reply), since the
git tree is already starting to diverge a bit...
