I am trying to create a live USB to boot an intel iMac and Mac Book. I have tried booting to the Fedora live CD and use the livecd command.
livecd-iso-to-disk --format --EFI /dev/sr0 /dev/sdb

When I tried it out, it didn't work, the Mac didn't recognize another disk in the startup manager. Even when booted to OSX it wanted to initialize the USB. I tried formatting the USB on the Mac as Mac Os Extended (Journaled), then use the terminal to cp or dd or ditto the files from the CD to the USB.

So far, Google has not presented me with the answer. Only bits and pieces that have not panned out to be successful. Can someone post some detailed instructions or point me to some detailed instructions you know will work.

Thank you.
