That sounds great. Co-mentoring can really work out well, especially
for two busy people. Just be sure to stay in regular contact together,
as well as the student.
I did want to add that a mentor doesn't need to be an expert in the
system they are mentoring for. Instead you need to be able to:
* Help students write the best proposals they can, which is more than
just technical information.
** ... but you can help get the technical experts to review the proposal.
* Connect the student with the resources (technical, infrastructure,
etc.) to do their project.
* Keep track of the student's progress so she or he doesn't just
disappear without you even knowing.
* Be an advisor to the student on how to get things done the open
source way, in the Fedora Project.
* Take care of mid-term and final evaluations.
For example, I mentored Dimitris Glezos when he wrote the first
instance of Transifex as a GSoC project, and I had very little clue
about the programming technology. :)
