Hi,

My name is Akhilesh R Kumar and I live in Chennai, India. My Fedora
Account System (FAS) <https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts> username
is rakhilesh, and I am new to IRC and would like help getting started.

I learned about the Fedora Marketing team through the Fedora Project
site, and am interested in joining because I believe I can contribute to
a certain extant in promoting Open Source Software.

This is the first FOSS project I have worked on. I've worked in
Marketing in the past. Some of the projects I've worked on, or roles
I've had, include conducting National level and international
conferences where I played a leading role in the planning and event
management. I have also performed a Market Research for a Telecom firm
in order to improve the promotion of its products at the Retail level.

My skills, which I hope to utilize in Fedora Marketing, include:

    * Marketing Skills -

Knowledge of marketing communication mix to promote
product, Experience in conducting Market research. I am currently
learning Marketing skills of managing a product and
developing a brand.

    * Other Skills -

Event management skill, art-work design using GIMP.

    * The learning which I am looking forward to is applying the
marketing techniques which I am learning as part of my course in a
      practical scenario.

When I'm not working on Fedora, I am pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in
Management Studies (Specialising in Marketing) at Loyola Institute of
Business Administration, Loyola College, Chennai.

A couple of goals I have for the Fedora Project are to position Fedora
as a product which is user friendly and promote Fedora in the local
market which is currently overwhelmed by Microsoft. I would also like to
see Fedora provide the users with a custom set of software which can be
chosen prior to downloading and installing it from the internet and user
created database of open source alternatives for some essential programs
happen in Fedora. In a Marketers perspective I would say perfecting on
our product so that other essentials of the Marketing mix can fall in
the right place.

I am wondering about the possibility of including simple tips on
installing software in Fedora at post installation which I find as a
major set back people have after installing Fedora for the first time.

That is basically about myself and I would really like to contribute to
the Fedora Project. Please help me get started!

Regards,
Akhilesh R Kumar
