I've tried that in the past for other projects, and from my experience, 
having the actual hardware makes it feel more real.
Unless you also makes the UI in the illustration drawn as well.
Quickly looking over ubuntu.com, microsoft.com and apple.com they are 
all using shots of real hardware.
