Well, it's what kdewin ships and they're the main cross-platform user of
D-Bus. AFAIK, stock D-Bus is still missing some of the required
patches/fixes.

Yes, but some of the patches may not be accepted as is without some
redesign. The main reason why a separate windbus project exists is that
D-Bus upstream didn't merge all the patches required to support the
inferior operating system. Even D-Bus upstream points to windbus:
