I poked at this a bit and it looks like building mingw32-runtime without
-fexceptions fixes the _gthread_key_create related linking errors described in
comment #4 and comment #5.

I don't understand much how the threading during exception unwinding works and
all the magic that's happening with __mingwthr_key_dtor. We should probably
cook up a patch for upstream, but it should be done by someone who really
understands what's going on here.

In any case, I'm going to build mingw32-runtime-3.18 for rawhide shortly. It
would be great if someone else besides me could give it a try.
