--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : openlayers
Product : Fedora 11
Version : 2.8
Release : 5.fc11
URL : http://www.openlayers.org/
Summary : A JavaScript library for displaying map data in web browsers
Description :
OpenLayers is a pure JavaScript library for displaying map data in most
modern web browsers, with no server-side dependencies. OpenLayers implements
a JavaScript API for building rich web-based geographic applications,
similar to the Google Maps and MSN Virtual Earth APIs, with one important
difference -- OpenLayers is Free Software, developed for and by the Open
Source software community.
Furthermore, OpenLayers implements industry-standard methods for geographic
data access, such as the OpenGIS Consortium's Web Mapping Service (WMS) and
Web Feature Service (WFS) protocols. Under the hood, OpenLayers is written
in object-oriented JavaScript, using components from Prototype.js and the
Rico library. The OpenLayers code base already has hundreds of unit tests,
via the Test.AnotherWay framework.

Update Information:
This update fixes a **legal issue** with the `jsmin` tool bundled in the
`openlayers` sources. It's license is unacceptable in Fedora, so it had to be
removed. See the following links for more information on this issue: *
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=455507 * http://www.mail-
archive.com/fedora-legal-list at redhat.com/msg00551.html Also, the simple
`minimize` tool in the `openlayers` source can not be used either as it produces
incorrect output: * http://trac.openlayers.org/ticket/2275 This means that
the `OpenLayers.js` file is now significantly bigger as it is not minimized
anymore. Hopefully, a new update will fix this, most likely with another
compression tool. This updates also introduces a new `-doc` subpackage where
the API documentation was moved, thus making the main package almost **75%
smaller**.
