Name : boost
Product : Fedora 14
Version : 1.44.0
Release : 1.fc14
URL : http://www.boost.org
Summary : The free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries
Description :
Boost provides free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries. The
emphasis is on libraries which work well with the C++ Standard
Library, in the hopes of establishing "existing practice" for
extensions and providing reference implementations so that the Boost
libraries are suitable for eventual standardization. (Some of the
libraries have already been proposed for inclusion in the C++
Standards Committee's upcoming C++ Standard Library Technical Report.)

Update Information:

The Boost packaging process relies on the addition of CMake-related files
(CMakeLists.txt and *.cmake). A small team maintains that CMake "framework" for
Boost on Gitorious (e.g., http://gitorious.org/~denisarnaud/boost/denisarnauds-
zeuners-boost-cmake, itself derived from http://gitorious.org/boost/svn). Up
until now (i.e., first with boost-1.41.0-x for Fedora 13/Rawhide and then with
boost-1.44.0-0.x for Fedora 14/Rawhide), the Boost Fedora package used a tar-
ball prepared by the Gitorious-hosted dedicated project, mixing upstream source
code with CMake-related files. The current Boost package (i.e.,
boost-1.44.0-1) attempts to deliver the same service (i.e., building Boost with
CMake on Fedora/RedHat), while decomposing both contributions: * Upstream Boost
tar-ball is now left untouched (and retrieved from the official Boost
SourceForge download site); * CMake capability is being added through a simple
dedicated patch, named "cmakeify_boost_1440.patch". That way, it should be
easier to maintain and to track whether a bug comes from upstream Boost or from
the CMake "framework" addition.
