Summary     : Pattern matching utilities
Description :
The GNU versions of commonly used grep utilities. Grep searches through
textual input for lines which contain a match to a specified pattern and then
prints the matching lines. GNU's grep utilities include grep, egrep and fgrep.

GNU grep is needed by many scripts, so it shall be installed on every system.

Update Information:

This release fixes a few bugs and includes two new features - diagnosis of commonly mistyped regular expressions such [:space:], [:digit:], etc. and support for equivalence classes on systems using glibc (whether they actually work depends on glibc's locale definitions). This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.  Use 
su -c 'yum update grep' at the command line.
