Description :
The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl
and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-
Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART) built
into most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks. In many cases, these
utilities will provide advanced warning of disk degradation and
failure.

- new smartctl option '-l devstat' (Device Statistics).
- new smartctl option '-l ssd' (SSD endurance indicator).
- smartd logs identify information of each SCSI/SAS device.
- smartd resends warning emails if problem reappears.
- new smartd directives '-l offlinests' and '-l selfteststs'.
- Many HDD, SSD and USB additions to drive database.
- Platform-specific man pages.
- smartd.8 man page no longer includes smartd.conf.5.
- Linux: Support for Areca controllers enhanced.
