Update Information:

Correctly install python3 files in package python3-matplotlib-qt4 and fix a unicode error also on python3.
Make stix-fonts a requires of matplotlib (#928326)
Use stix fonts avoid problems with missing cm fonts (#908717). Correct type mismatch in python3 font_manager (#912843, #928326)
