Summary     : Computational discrete algebra
Description :
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular
emphasis on Computational Group Theory.  GAP provides a programming
language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic
algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries
of algebraic objects.  GAP is used in research and teaching for studying
groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras,
combinatorial structures, and more.

This is a metapackage that requires the standard GAP components.

Update Information:

See http://gap-system.org/Manuals/doc/changes/chap2.html for the changes in this
major release of gap.  The tth package had some TeX font dependencies added,
since it can generate code that refers to those fonts.  The individual gap
packages are mostly rebuilds for gap 4.8, with a few new versions where upstream
had to make changes for compatibility with gap 4.8.
