Actually you need to put "LIBTOOL=..." after the "make"; it's a makefile
variable, not an environment variable.  So:

make LIBTOOL=/usr/bin/libtool make %{?_smp_mflags}

Sorry I wasn't clearer.  With that change, all is well.
