Including <linux/compiler.h> is just a bug, and should be fixed upstream.
The iksemel package exists on PowerPC -- you can enable jabber there, and then
you're right; gtalk seems to work too.
lm_sensors doesn't seem to be necessary either.
app_rpt needs to either die completely, use a proper kernel driver or be limited
to architectures where you're allowed to poke randomly at I/O ports from userspace.
