I have checked that the result is nice with unnoticeable delays
with .icewm/startup:

#! /bin/sh

icewm-xdg-menu --entire-menu --with-theme-paths > ~/.icewm/programs

And .icewm/menu:
# This is an example for IceWM's menu definition file.
#
# Place your variants in /etc/icewm or in $HOME/.icewm
# since modifications to this file will be discarded when you
