All scientific apps of fedora are placed at that location:
* ktechlab
* geda/gaf
* magic
* xcircuit
* qucs
* labplot
(to name a few)

It has always been this way, i.e in all my releases there were 2 symbolic 
links on /etc/profile.d
In my previous releases, the alc_env* scripts were at /usr/share/alliance/etc, 
in the release 3 they were moved to /etc/allliance.
