Waiting for upstream to make some bug fixes.  I've reported at least three
issues upstream that I consider show stoppers:

1) configure with --disable-static will not build
2) compile with -DDEBUG will not build.
3) A segfault reported by Patrice that can not be adequately evaluated because of #2

I've been updating to cvs version (locally) whenever I see movement upstream,
but so far none of these issues have been fixed.
