Yes, existing mysql-query-browser is a part of mysql-gui-tools which we would
now obsolete and separate packages. And this package is not just part of
separated mysql-gui-tools. From version 5.0r14 there no tarball release
produced for Linux and no build support. This package, what present on review
is mostly written from scratch (off course good history and knowledge I try get
in future :) ).
