Yes, it's reproducible. Also on two machines (which are not similar to
eachother). It depends on the networking setup, but I don't have the time to
examine it much further as other networking apps work fine here. From comment

If I switch networks or tell the dhcp server to emit hostnames, the UI
invocation changes (and specifies a hostname instead of "localhost"), and the
UI appears. Well, I don't see any obvious error WRT the localhost setup here,
but since the dhcp server/gateway influences DNS queries, there may be special
conditions under which lv2-fil gets an answer that makes it fail.

Shouldn't block the review.
