Is it really a good idea to run /bin/id in scriptlets?  Depending on 
nsswitch configuration, couldn't this block waiting for NIS/etc lookups?

(though maybe the same is true of useradd; I've always wondered whether 
it would be better to be using l{user,group}add instead)
