use of cpuspeed and the tasbar icon

So cpuspeed would be a great too for laptop users, however is there a
file I can point cpuspeed at to figure out power status? This way when
on AC power, run full speed, etc...

Also the task bar applet for cpu freq doesn't allow me to click and
select a frequency like I can w/ my Athlon64 system. When running the
applet from the CLI I get a segfault.

[root at obi-wan ~]# cpufreq-selector -c 1 -f 800
Segmentation fault

Is this a bug?
