That's the madwifi kernel driver that has been proposed at
rpm.livna.org
The current src.rpm is down at the bottom - comment #27 - and currently
specifies x86 only.
As soon as I am able (IE have actually obtained the used G4 I'm
getting) I will try to get it to work in PPC/Fedora, but if anyone else
on this has a ppc mac with a pci slot or a cardbus (I think it's
cardbus) slot, I do know the AT&T Plugandshare cards use Atheros and
are sometimes very cheap at CompUSA.
I would be willing to buy a card for a PPC developer who wants to take
a stab at it (someone who might have a better clue than me at how to
resolve issues if they come up). I can't pay for any development time,
though.
Since it looks like airport extreme isn't an option under PPC linux for
awhile (Broadcom won't won't even answer my e-mails asking if there are
plans, and the sourceforge project still has a ways to go) I do think
getting some kind of definitive working 802.11g support for PPC linux,
even if through rpm.livna.org, is important.
Atheros of course isn't the only option, but often the cards can be had
cheap and obtained at places that have a small electronics section, not
just at a computer store.
