There are a few bugs upstream about puppet and 1.9. Some of these are 
fairly long standing ( http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/2191 ) 
and I seem to recall a conversation recently that went along the lines 
of '1.9 isnt on the horizon at the moment, maybe for puppet-1;.
