Which is the same release as I started using RH which eventually led me 
to Fedora ( although I stayed on RHL 7.2 up to Fc3 )

I'm perfectly well aware of that otherwise I would not have nominated 
myself to the baseWG as well.

Here you seem to be failing to understanding that those component still 
costs the community time.

There is *always* a "base" cost of time for a component in the 
distribution in addition to that is the fact when a maintainer becomes 
sloppy, leaves or in other words the time he provided is gone for one 
reason or another or simply reduced, the amount of time he provided just 
falls on someone else's shoulders until that the component he brought 
into the distribution is removed from the distribution.

I'm not sure where you get that rewrite from?

make/find that time.
