The syntax of modprobe.conf is different from that of modules.conf - there
are no pre-install/pre-remove statements.
Try using something like this:
install sound-card-0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install sound-slot-0 && {
/usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || : }
remove sound-card-0 {/usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : };
/sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove sound_slot_0
