smart is a mechanism by which hard drives monitor various attributes and
report if these attributes chande such that they have fallen outside
a range of thresholds. The attribute being measured is unimport for the
most part. What is important is that when any of these attributes start
to fall outside of the thresholds, then this is an indicator that the
drive will soon fail. The proper response in this case is to replace the
drive. Does anyone disagree with this?
