For awhile it looked like it was going some place good. Then XP came out
with yet another set of NTFS changes. There are no guarantees that the
NTFS module will read any given file correctly. Although it is supposedly
fairly good. The write support stinks. You can sometimes overwrite a given
file safely if you do not change it's size. Anything else is a disaster
that happens on the first write.

ie. Why bother? Make a FAT filesystem partition to handle the transfers.
