samba gui not working

samba gui is not working for me. whenever i try to open up the gui it
gives me error saying "couldn't display smb://, because nautilus cannot
contact the SMB master browser.Check that an SMB server is running on
the local network."

but i can open up network places by manually typing smb://ipaddress of
hostname and it does work.

any idea what might be the problem??
