Hm, what kind of video card.... it makes a big difference since the selection 
of TV out is controlled by the video driver, and they all have different ways 
AFAIK.

If you're using the nvidia driver, read the copious release notes which does 
describe how to do this.  Otherwise have a poke around http://www.xfree86.org
