rpm -Rebuilddb problems

thats because they were deleted earlier - as per my earlier instructions.
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.*

I'm stumped. Other experts on rpm have to answer this one (why
--rebuilddb doesn't work)

For one - you could try the following and see if shows any errors on
installed rpm package:

rpm -V rpm
