Video Lan on Fedora Core x86_64

Greetings all,
 
Has anyone had any success getting VideoLan (VLC) or any other DVD
playback/decoder software to work in the 64 bit (x86_64) test version of
Fedora? I have tried compiling all the required elements from the
sources but have had no luck. Specifically with FFMPEG and OPENSLP, both
fail either when running configure or make.
 
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
