ide-scsi is pretty broken at this point.

Try removing ide-scsi and using:

cdrecord -v dev=/dev/hdc speed=12 fc2-disc1.iso

(Assuming your cd-rom drive is on /dev/hdc.)

BTW, k3b is a highly recommended front-end for cd and dvd burning. It 
handles this stuff automatically.
