Yum update error message

look in /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo and/or /etc/yum.conf for a [base] repo

see if there is no baseurl or no mirrorlist option under [base] 

if not, put one, if there is one, see what it is resolving to.

yum -d 4 [command]
will often help to know more about the problem.
