Custom Kernel?

As far as I remember there was always support for running RedHat/Fedora
with a custom/vanilla/stock kernel.

Now one of my bug reports has been closed because I am not using a
Fedora kernel and the same question has been raised in another bug
report:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=133865
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=133789#c4

Could someone please clarify?

Tom
