It's not completely gone. 
At install the initial boot prompt you have to type "linux lilo" then start 
the install. 
Post-install, you just have install lilo rpm. (you may need to 
copy /etc/lilo.conf.anaconda to /etc/lilo.conf)

btw: lilo is my preference too.
